Upsell Shopping Cart Project Featured Project!
This is a fun and easy project for someone who has created custom shopping carts before, or for someone who has modified and customized existing shopping carts successfully.
We frankly would prefer a modified existing cart because we need to be able to modify the items we're selling, and how we sell them, over time. And we want to be able to do that without having to have the cart reprogrammed.
So, for this job, preference goes to a proposal which modifies or uses an existing cart.
Here's what we need.
We're in the business of selling services locally. So we have a four stage checkout which starts with the buyer entering in their name and email address, and the city and state on page One.
On Page Two of the cart, they'll be customizing their selection by choosing from a list of services.
On Page Three of the cart, they'll see two prices for two different levels of service, and make a choice.
On the last page of the cart, they'll check out. At this point, their credit card is processed.
Once the sale is made, they'll see the Thank You page, where they'll be offered an upsell. It is critical that each upsell be a one-click upsell. So, after an upsell is selected, their card is charged without having to re-enter their billing information.
The items that we are upselling include the other services that appeared on Page 2, as well as repeating the entire purchase for a second city and state. Upsells may be the exact same type of item made during the initial sale, but they would be at a discounted price.
Here are some additional specs for the job:
* The cart can be an off-the-shelf system, such as OSCommerce or Magento or CubeCart or 1ShoppingCart or whatever you think is appropriate...so long as you are expert in the cart and already know exactly how you'd set it up or modify it to achieve our goals.
* The cart can also be entirely custom built. However, we must be able to modify the options and the items we are selling without having to go back to our programmer or modify the database directly.
* It is possible that someone may order one item, or 2 or 12 or many more as upsells.
* The cart must integrate with our gateway, Authorize.net.
* The items will have an initial purchase price, and each item will also potentially have a recurring monthly fee. So we must be able to handle recurring charges, though the recurring charge is not the same amount as the initial sale.
* The list of options that we show on Page 2 include the City and State name as part of their description.
* We'd like to be able to have an affiliate module, so this system either must have a robust affiliate system built into it, or be able to integrate with an inexpensive affiliate system or service
* We'd like the ability to use coupon codes so that we can extend discounts for some items for the initial purchase of individual items, and perhaps also for the recurring charges. The discounts can be either dollars off, or percent off.
* The cart must integrate with a mailing list system for both buyers and prospects such as Aweber.
* The cart would always use US dollars as currency.
* SSL required for all transactions.
* We'd like a "test" mode so we can test transactions as though live prior to launch.
* We'd like the project developed in PHP, MySQL, and perhaps Ajax and running on a Linux server. No Windows servers or solutions, please.
As far as your qualifications are concerned, we require:
* Excellent Communication skills required
* Must be proficient in the English language
* Must be conscientious about quality and deadlines
* Must be somewhat available during US business hours
* Must have significant positive feedback and reviews
* Get more details via PMB before you bid and please enter the word "Pineapple" in your PMB to prove you have read this. Put it at the top of your first reply.
* PHP
* MySQL
* Ajax
* CSS
* Validate all form input before putting in DB
* Well-organized .css
And, if you are coding this from scratch, we require…
* Well-documented code (in fact, over-documented is preferred)
* Descriptive variable names
* Maintain master list of functions with input and output specified.
* Fully document everything
All coding must be unique and original, unless of course you are using publicly available (and non-copyrighted) modules, functions and tools, or modifying an existing cart.
This is a work for hire. We will own the copyright for this project.
Please send PMB message to introduce yourself and request further details before you bid. It is critical that you have read and understand this entire spec before replying for more information.
Important: In your PMB, please let us know whether you are planning on modifying an existing cart or coding from scratch, and any questions you might have. If you're modifying a cart, please explain which cart it is, which features it already has, and what features you'll need to customize or create.
We plan on awarding the job within 5 days, and would like the job completed 7 to 10 days after that.
I look forward to hearing from you.
