Market Research for Multiple Countries
Budget: $250 – $1,500 NZD
I have an app that allows owners of investment properties to rent these to long term tenants in an entirely
digital manner – removing the need and expense associated with traditional property managers / real estate
agents.
Through the Sam App, owners can list their property for rent, seek applications from tenants, approve
maintenance, receive regular digital property inspections. Tenants, through use of Sam complete digital
inspections, host open homes on behalf of owners, raise maintenance requests.
In a number of markets the cost of property management is around 10% of gross rental received plus additional costs for re-letting, renewals etc.
With the emergence of Airbnb and other short term holiday rental platforms, many owners are now familiar with the concept of digitally renting their properties; likewise many tenants are familiar as guests and vice versa.
We wish to understand the most attractive global markets for the Sam business, and seek the services of a
researcher who can research, analyse, compile relevant information so we can make informed decisions on which
markets to enter first and any barriers which would need to be overcome.
Key information required by country:
• Total population, major centres and population of same
• Number of residential rental properties
• % of rental properties vs owner occupied
• Average rent paid per week
• Number of properties listed on Airbnb or similar
• Number of bookings for Airbnb or similar
• Major providers of property management services – list and market share%
• Cost of property management services (broken down)
• Smart phone usage including by operating system (iOS/Android)
• Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK should be included in this research
